Mechanical Design Engineer
Key Partners is assisting our Portsmouth, NH client in their search for a Mechanical Design Engineer. The candidate will perform and assist with all aspects of mechanical engineering relating to the business, with focus on areas relating to high temperature heat exhangers, high-speed turbomachinery, hot structures, mechanical components/systems, and materials. This position will lead and/or assist other engineers, designers, technicians, or managers on projects including program plans, conceptual design, feasibility studies, analysis, specification, prototyping, and testing, with repsonsibilites and involvement continuing through to product launch and full production implementation.
Requirements
- Perform and assist with all aspects of mechanical engineering in the business, including areas relating to high temperature heat exchangers, high-speed turbomachinery, hot structures, mechanical components/systems and materials.
- Mechanical design and analysis including application of dimensioning/tolerancing, and configuration management in a solid modeling environment.
- Preparation of project/program plans, conceptual design, feasibility studies, analysis, specification, prototyping, and testing, with responsibilities and involvement continuing through to product launch and full production implementation.
- Product acceptance and compliance with required internal and external standards for safety, reliability, and performance.
- Coordination of design/development of complex engineered systems across several engineering disciplines.
- Preparation and definition of product or subsystem test plans. Specify and order test hardware. Execute and/or oversee required testing while adhering to company safety policies.
- Support and contribute to continuous improvements in the reliability, value, and profitability of company products using VA/VE and other methods.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, particulary in machine design and heat transfer disciplines.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, etc.
- The ability to effectively manage time and to effectively handle multiple conflicting tasks and changing priorities.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and documentation skills
- Knowledge of fabrication methods in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Must be able and willing to learn the latest technology in new product development and improvements of current products.
- Must be a "hands-on" engineer who is comfortable spending time in the test lab around running machinery, the machine shop, manufacturing floor, etc.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 5 years engineering machine or complex system design experience required.
- Gas turbine experience preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical software.
