Electrical Designer
This temporary opportunity is for an electrical engineer with a broad range of skills in designing electrical controls panels for industrial automation applications, ideally for power generation machinery. Electrical designer will work with peer electrical, mechanical and controls engineers to generate documentation for standard machines and special applications. This position will also require interacting with the following groups inside and outside the company:
- Assembly and test
- Manufacturing
- Purchasing
- Vendors
- Panel Shops
Responsibilities:
- Use AutoCAD Electrical to generate electrical control panel's component layouts, schematics, wire run lists.
- Size and select components (fuses, circuit breakers, relays, contractors, motor starters, transformers, wires).
- Generate and manage BOM.
- Create documents for: Internal design and review. Vendor construction and wiring. Final As-Built drawings for archiving.
- Work with manufacturing to establish best wiring and assembly practices.
- Provide support to field service.
Critical Competencies/Experience
- AutoCAD Electrical 2009 or newer (2D Design, XREFs, Model space using multiple Viewports and layouts, use of project management in AutoCAD Electrical, Generate Custom Footprintsand Symbols and manage database, Create Control panel layouts, Component Footprints, dimensions, Create schematics using AutoCAD Electrical Symbols, Use of AutoCAD tools to validate design, Use of Reports).
- Some level of familiarity with applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, UL508) and hazardous area classifications.
- Experience with PLC's, VFD's, 3 phase power generators and power electronics.
- Familiiarity with basic office software tools (Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Company Outlook for email, Basic photo editing).
- Minimum 2 years experience.
Educational Requirements
- 4 year Electrical Engineering degree (BSEET, BSEE)
