Database Administrator

 

We are partnering with our Dover, NH client in their seach for a Database Administrator. This person will be responsible for setting up, managing, and optimizing databases. Responsibilites include working closely with database and system engineers, application developers, and program management to monitor and maintain operational systems and add system functionality, tables and data; optimizing systems for availability and performance; creating reports, and contributing to system upgrades. Additional responsibilies include the following:

  • Provide monitoring, maintenance, and support for high-availability databases.
  • Contribute to implementation of disaster recovery strategy for data.
  • Communicate regulary with support teams regarding database status and changes.
  • Create and maintain database administration documentation.
  • Monitor and manage database backups, logs and catalogs.
  • Monitor performance and capacity, perform data ports and data loads, and monitor and test data integrity as required.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Maintain and configure development, staging, test, and production databases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with a minimum of (3) years of related database administration experience, which includes a minimum of two years of recent experience in Relational Database Management Systems (SQL Server).
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Knowledge of stored procedures, triggers, data import, and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL 2005/2008 and Win 2003/2008 servers
  • Prior work experience with Java, .Net and C# is perferred.
  • Ability to understand complex problems, collaborate and explore issues, and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
  • Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications of limited scope or impact, etc.
  • Utilize tools run in a Windows XP/7 Operatiing System environment including Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
  • Moderate lifting and carrying of items up to 45lbs. are all requirements of this position.
